Keith Grehan will return to court in October.
A Westmeath man accused of an assault that left a woman in hospital without a number teeth has been told his case is too serious to be tried in the district court, according to the Irish Independent.
36 year old Keith Grehan, from Beechville in Athlone is charged with assault causing harm, and for theatening to kill the woman, and for using abusing or threatening behaviour.
The alleged incident took place at Central Terrace, on Northgate Street in Athlone on October 5th in 2024.
Mr Grehan has been on bail since February under conditions which include orders to have no contact with his alleged victim.
Refusing juristiction, Judge Patricia Cronin decided the case is too serious for summary disposal, with Mr Grehan remaining on bail until an October 7th sitting at Athlone District Court.
