The incident took place in November 2024.
A Westmeath man is to stand trial accused of producing a gas canister during an alleged violent assault in a midlands town.
26 year old Bryan Ncube with addresses at Brawney Lane, Athlone, Westmeath and Cedarfield Lodge, Dublin Road, Blackrock, Louth, is facing four charges in total, according to the Irish Independent.
He's accused of assaulting a man causing him harm, committing violent disorder with two other people, producing a gas canister "capable of inflicting serious injury" and causing criminal damage to a black coloured VW Golf that belonged to his alleged victim.
The alleged incident took place at McDonald’s, Kilmartin N6 Centre, Dublin Road, Athlone, Westmeath on November 2, 2024.
Mr Ncube was given an alibi warning in Athlone District Court yesterday where his defence solicitor said he'd be reserving his position on any bail application for the time being.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the next sittings of Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on May 7th.
