The former member was convicted of rape and aggravated sexual assault.
A Westmeath rugby club says it's 'appalled' by the act of a former member.
26-year-old Jonathan Moran was convicted in April of rape and aggravated sexual assault, and his victim, Bláthnaid Raleigh, waived her right to anonymity.
In a statement to Midlands 103, Mullingar Rugby Club says it was 'deeply shocked and saddened' to learn of the crime, and it condemns the act.
It also says it prides itself on 'fostering an inclusive and safe environment for all members.'
The statement also notes the club is 'committed to promoting a culture of respect, integrity, and zero tolerance for any form of abuse and
to upholding the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for all.'
