It comes as cases of oral gonorrhoea, have increased among young heterosexuals in Ireland.
While the infections are usually easily treatable, some can cause serious health issues, such as infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease.
Laura Tully, Sexual Health service nurse Manager at TUS Athlone, believes many people are unaware they have the infection as they are often asymptomatic.
