Management at the shopping centre has posted a statement saying that "an issue" led to the building opening late on Saturday.
Multiple reports indicate the issue was caused by sprinklers going off in the nearby Sheraton Hotel, while Gardaí in Athlone say a burst water tank in the hotel led to the flooding through the hotel and shopping centre.
No injuries have been reported, and there's no suspicion of foul play.
