The housing will be located on the outskirts of Athlone.
Approval is being granted for the development of 94 new homes in Westmeath.
The proposed development is being led by Westmeath County Council, consisting of 86 houses and 8 apartments, and is situated at Cornamaddy on the eastern outskirts of Athlone and extends to over 16 acres in total.
Works also include car parking, hard and soft landscaping, site clearance and access roads.
