A public meeting planned for this Thursday to discuss the food bank in Athlone has been cancelled.
A Westmeath woman is calling on people to step up for Athlone’s first community-led food bank.
Local volunteer Lisa Malone, was leading the initiative, but due to personal reasons is unable to take on the project now.
A public meeting to discuss the food bank was due to take place this Thursday but it is now cancelled.
The meeting would organise how the food bank would operate and how to source non-perishable food items.
Ms Malone, says the project is about creating a space for those in need:
