Westmeath Woman Describes Severity of Spanish Wildfires

Elena Sanchez is living in Westmeath and is visiting her family who live west of Madrid.

Spain's announced the end of a national emergency for fires in the Avila and Madrid regions.


However, the country's interior ministry says large parts remain at extreme risk, particularly in the north.


Authorities in France's Gironde region say they're allowing another 84,000 people to return to their homes, as emergency services continue to tackle a large wildfire there.


Spanish woman Elena Sanchez who is living in Westmeath says the fires in her home country are serious.
