Moate's Louise McCormack is among the Irish citizens being detained by Israeli forces.

A Westmeath woman has been detained on a flotilla ship by Israeli forces carrying aid to Gaza.

Moate's Louise McCormack is among Irish citizens, including President Connolly's sister, Dr Margaret Connolly, that have been detained in international waters near Cyprus.

The Global Aid Smud Flotilla.sayst hat around 52 boats carrying food, baby formula and medical aid to Gaza have been intercepted so far.

Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, at headquarters and at relevant Embassies, are actively monitoring the situation regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla and are engaging with the relevant authorities. The Department will provide consular assistance to impacted Irish citizens. As with all consular cases, the Department does not comment on the details of individual cases.
