38 year old Kirsty Fitztpatrick says she can't believe she survived the assault from 39 year old Mark Conway in his home in Marine View Athlone in Westmeath in February 2024.
Mr Conway received a six year jail sentence after pleading guilty to assault causing harm in July last year.
Ms Fitzpatrick recalls being told by Gardaí she was going to end up leaving that house in a body bag.
