Without Westmeath County Council Grant Fleadh Performers May Lose Out

The organisers of the Fleadh were expecting the grant to be paid in January.

Performing artists at this year's Fleadh might be out of pocket if Westmeath County Council fail to produce a promised €400,000 grant.

The organisers of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann were expecting the grant to be paid in January but they are still waiting on it. 

This year's festival is taking place in Mullingar, for a second year in a row, and it is estimated to be worth around €60 million to the town.

Chair of the committee, Joe Connaire says they have an unstinting commitment to paying performers so they need all the funding they've been promised:
