The incident happened on Monday evening.
A woman is expected in court this evening in relation to a fatal assault in Carlow.
Darren Quigley from New Oak Estate, Carlow Town was found unresponsive in his home at around 11.40pm on Monday.
He was later pronounced dead in hospital.
The woman in her 30s has been charged and will appear before a special sitting of Carlow District Court.
