A woman is due before the courts this morning in connection with alleged thefts from shops in six towns.
The woman, who is in her 50s, has been charged in relation to 11 incidents of alleged thefts, which occurred in Portlaoise, Athy, Newbridge, Kilkenny, Wexford and Maynooth.
She was arrested by Gardaí attached to Leixlip Garda Station as part of Operation Táirge.
She is due to appear before a sitting of Naas District Court this morning.
Gardaí say investigations into retail thefts in the Eastern Region are ongoing.
