Work on Athlone’s €4m town centre regeneration looks set to begin early in 2022.  

The project, which will see major works around Mardyke St and Pump Lane, should go out to tender at the end of this year.  

It will see upgrading of footpaths, pedestrianisation of part of Sean Costello St as well as street furniture, play equipment, cycle parking, trees and landscaping to enhance biodiversity.
