The second stage runs from today until the end of April.
Long-awaited works on a new Laois footpath and cycle lane are moving into their second phase this week.
Construction at Smith’s Field in Mountmellick, began in May 2025, to provide a key pedestrian and cycling link between Kirwan Park and College Avenue.
Laois County Council confirmed the next stage will run from January 21 until April 24.
Pedestrian traffic management and diversions are in place daily from 8am to 6pm, with no impact expected for residents.
The project forms part of a wider regeneration of Smith’s Field involving new housing, sports facilities and community amenities.
