The McLaren junior driver will start from 15th after a ten place grid penalty.
Alex Dunne recorded the fifth fastest time in his first Formula Two qualifying session in Austrualia this morning.
However the Clonbullogue teenager is facing a ten place grid penalty for both tomorrow's Sprint race and the Feature race on Sunday after his team, among a number of others, were penalised for fitting an illegal component to their cars.
Dunne's fastest time of 1 minute 29.8 seconds was five tenths shy of the pole position mark set by Gabrielli Mini.
Tomorrow's Sprint Race gets underway at 3.15am, with the Feature Race starting at 12.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning.
