The Westmeath manager is reacting after his side suffered a costly defeat.
Joe Fortune has launched an impassioned plea for Westmeath fans to rally around their players after they were beaten by Kerry on Sunday.
The Lake County entered the Joe McDonagh Cup as one of the favourites but were well beaten by the Munster side in Mullingar.
The Kingdom led by four points early in a sign of things to come, Tommy Doyle's second half goal got Westmeath back in to the game but Kerry ran out convincing 1-20 to 1-14 winners.
Fortune says he wants the responsibility and the fallout to come to his door.
He tells Midlands 103 the players know they fell short:
Westmeath return to action this weekend in a do or die meeting with Offaly in O'Connor Park at 3pm on Saturday.
