The victory marked a maiden win for John Story.
Laois trainer Liam Cusack picked up a winner over the festive period.
The Mountrath man saw John Story land a 2 and three-quarter length victory on New Year's Day in a handicap hurdle contest at Fairyhouse.
That result was the seven year old's maiden win and first time finishing in the places after 8 outings.
Cusack has a strike rate of 7% from 54 runs over fences and hurdles over the course of this year's national hunt season so far.
