Here's our report from Bellator's latest event.
Danni McCormack’s undefeated professional MMA run has come to an end as she suffered a first round TKO loss to Stéphanie Page at Bellator 275 at the 3Arena.
The Mullingar native was tagged with a counter right hand inside the first 20 seconds that dropped her as she attempted to close down the French kickboxer.
Another right hand followed dazing McCormack as the fighter hit the mat, with Page opting to grapple taking McCormack’s back.
The Irishwoman regained her composure enough to get the fight back to a standing position but still looked shaky with Page continuing to pile on the pressure.
The end came as Page opened up with a flurry of strikes backing McCormack right the way across the octagon to the fence where she landed a number of unanswered shots, forcing referee Mark Goddard to call the standing TKO stoppage at 1:40 of the first round.
The loss at Bellator 275 brings Danni McCormack’s overall professional record to 5-1 bringing an end to her unbeaten streak that dated back to 2019 when she made her professional début for the promotion against Camila Rivarola.
Elsewhere on the card Gegard Mousasi retained his Bellator Middleweight title with a first round TKO win over the previously undefeated Austin Vanderford. Dublin’s Sinead Kavanagh overcame a knee problem to see off Leah McCourt by unanimous decision and fellow SBG Dublin fighter Ciaran Clarke extended his unbeaten run to 5-0 with a TKO victory over Abou Tounkara.
