NHL: Offaly Fall Short In Kilkenny

Laois had a comfortable opening round win away to Mayo.

Offaly Hurling Manager Johnny Kelly is praising his panel following their performance away to Kilkenny yesterday. 

The Faithful were narrowly beaten by the Leinster Champions on a final scoreline of 0-20 to 0-16 in Division One. 

Adam Screeney was the highest scorer for Offaly, as he finished with 0-9, with Luke Watkins also contributing with 0-2. 

A handful of players made their debuts yesterday, with injuries hindering the squad at this present moment in time.

Elsewhere, Laois proved too strong for Mayo in their clash in Division Two. 

James Keyes scored 3-2, while Cillian Dunne contributed 2-2 as Tommy Fitzgerald's side came away with a comprehensive 6-23 to 0-12 win.
