However, it wasn't enough to stop them losing to Ulster.
Leinster 'A' were defeated 29-14 by Ulster 'A' at the RDS last night but there was some positive news.
Birr prop Peter Dooley started at loose head for the development game and managed to get his name on the scoresheet.
The moment came just after half-time when he crossed from close range following some good line-out work by the pack to put his side 14-7 up.
Dooley was replaced along with his front row colleagues after 55 minutes as is the norm in the sport today but he will hope that the performance will put him in the reckoning as the PRO 14 kicks back into gear in the coming weeks.
Try for Ulster. Gilroy intercepts a pass at halfway and runs it in. Johnston converts.
