PGA Tour cancelled until April
The Players Championship has been cancelled in Florida, after day one of the PGA Tour event had been completed.
Rory McIlroy was the defending champion at TPC Sawgrass, but all events on the Tour have now been cancelled up until the Masters in April.
With a number of high-profile sports suspending all activity in the United States, the PGA Tour has now decided to follow the trend and call off the self titled fifth major, as well as the next three weeks of events.
The Valspar Championship, the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play and the Valero Texas Open are the other golfing events pulled.
Shane Lowry and Graeme McDowell were also in the field.
