The Clara man is four shots off the early lead in Toronto.

Shane Lowry got off to a good start in the first round of the Canadian Open yesterday.

The Clara man is three-under-par after the opening day in Toronto, four shots behind the early leader, Wyndham Clark,

Defending champion Rory McIlroy is on four-under-par.

Both Irish players are among the late starters for the second round today, with Lowry out just after 6pm Irish time, shortly after McIlroy tees off.

Meanwhile, the opening event of the LIV Golf Series was mired in further controversy last night.

Journalist Alan Shipnuck was removed from a press conference by security after the opening round at the Centurion.

Shipnuck contacted LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman about the incident, with the Aussie claiming to have no knowledge.

Video later emerged of Norman standing directly behind the journalist as his ejection unfolded.
