Ava O'Connor will be on the move to Colorado next year.
Tullamore Harrier Ava O'Connor will compete at the US Collegiate level after securing a scholarship for next year.
The Scoil Chriost Rí, Portlaoise student will make the move to Adams State University as part of their track and field programme.
The announcement comes two months on from the Mountmellick native breaking the Tullamore Harriers mile record that stood for 18 years.
O'Connor also secured a bronze medal in the 800m at the national U20 championships in Santry, 24 hours before breaking Pauline Curley's mile mark.
