On this weeks programme MJ chats to Athlone based business Farmeye who have a range of services for farmers including soil sampling. Changes to the nitrates rules mean that soil sampling is now more important than ever and Brendan Allen from the company speaks about the services that they offer.

International company Klassman Deilmann who have a facility in Co. Westmeath are trialing the use of willow as an additive to peat to use as a growing medium. The changes in the rules of harvesting peat sees this company having to transport peat from the Baltic states to use in Irish horticulture, non sensical from a carbon footprint perspective but something they are forced to do to survive.

Aidan Brennan from the Irish Farmers Journal and Eamonn O Reilly from AIB speak about upcoming events in the Midlands on CAP and Nitrates. Eamonn gives his thoughts on interest rates for the coming year also.

Martin Coughlan from the Farming Independent speaks about the cattle trade and how he feels sheep farmers are being left behind by the farm organisations.
