An international conference on peat starts today in Offaly.
The Irish Peatland Society is holding its annual gathering in the Tullamore Court Hotel until Thursday, with this year's theme focusing on exploring agriculture and transitioning to renewable energy.
The event is also affiliated with the International Peatland Society, a global network spanning over 30 countries focusing on the wise use of sites.
Those taking part will be able to take field trips to peat sites across the county, and will also travel to Westmeath and Kildare.
