A heartfelt letter has been written to American President, Joe Biden, by Michael D Higgins about the recent shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
He expressed abhorrence at such acts and stands behind the people of the US.
19 children and two adults lost their lives in the shooting in Robb Elementary School.
The shooter has been named as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos.
The President passed his condolences to America, on the behalf of Ireland.
He also acknowledged another recent shooting in Buffalo, New York, in which 10 people were killed.
