An estimated 44,000 people in Ireland get cancer each year.
The Irish Cancer Society partnered with Midlands cancer support groups to provide over 1,200 free counselling sessions last year.
550 were provided in Westmeath, 500 in Laois and 234 in Offaly for cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones.
The sessions were provided by Dóchas Offaly Cancer Support Group, LARCC Sanctuary in Mullingar and Cuisle Centre in Laois.
Financial support of €86,000 was distributed between the three groups in order to provide the sessions, with €21,500 to Dochas, €33,000 to Mullingar and €31,500 to Cuisle.
