1,230 Over 75s Left Waiting More Than 24 Hours In Midlands EDs

That applies to the first five months of 2022.

1,230 people over the age of 75 were left waiting over 24 hours in emergency departments in the midlands this year.

Tullamore Regional Hospital saw the worst figures, with 547 waiting between January and May.

That's followed by 510 in Mullingar Hospital, and 173 in Portlaoise.

Nationally, the number of people waiting over 24 hours in EDs has increased three-fold this year.

Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson David Cullinane says the number of older people waiting is particularly shocking:
