A midlands TD says his big fear is many cancers have gone undetected since the pandemic started.
The number of new patients presenting for cancer treatments dropped by around 8 per cent last year.
Figures released to Aontu leader Peadar Tóibín show 8,252 patients started treatment in day wards in 2019.
That fell to 7,683 in 2020 - the first time in years a decrease has been recorded.
