Westmeath's Paddy Dunican passed away suddenly on Saturday.
He had been overseeing the racecource for more than thirty years, and was also the President of the Tullamore Rotary Club.
General Manager of the Fairyhouse Racecourse, Peter Roe, says Paddy was 'Mr. Kilbeggan,' and was extremely thoughtful with a kind heart.
I was shocked & saddened to hear of the death of my friend & colleague Paddy Dunican. He was Mr @KilbegganRaces & that was his family. The racecourse, its facilities & recently installed irrigation system were a tribute to his foresight. He was extremely thoughtful & huge heart pic.twitter.com/avOtmeAJpi

Unfortunately, we learned this weekend of the sudden passing of Kilbeggan Racecourse Manager, Paddy Dunican. Paddy was a long time friend of Galway and a friend to many of the Directors and staff at Galway. Our deepest sympathies go to Paddy’s family at this time. RIP pic.twitter.com/LC3xh4uuFL

Gardaí in Laois and Offaly recalled how invested he was in the message of putting your phone down while driving.
Over the weekend, a gentleman called Paddy Dunican, Kilbeggan Racecourse fame, tragically passed away. Most of us involved in events around Laois and Offaly got to know him. A true gent. One of Paddys last pieces of work was with Tullamore & District Rotary Club around the message of putting away the mobile phone while driving. We remember how passionate he was about keeping the message in this video alive, so we will do our part in sharing the message and continuing to enforce Road Safety. You can do your part too. Rest in peace, Paddy.
