Tullamore's Georgina Tuohey says it's needed after waiting years for her former partner's case going to trial.
An Offaly mum whose children were raped and abused by her former partner is campaigning for changes to the way sexual abuse crimes are tried.
Tullamore's Georgina Tuohey says her family was destroyed by years of waiting for 51-year-old Brendan Cornally, O'Brien Street, Tullamore, Offaly, to appear before the courts.
Mr Cornally was sentenced to 17-and-a-half years in total for the rape and sexual assault of Ms Touhey’s two sons and the sexual assault of her daughter over the course of three trials.
She says one of her sons, who has learning difficulties, became catatonic after the abuse and she believes the years of waiting for the trials to commence robbed him of any chance of a meaningful recovery:
