Almost 800 cars have been seized in the midlands over the course of the last 32 months for learner driver infractions.
In the Meath/Westmeath Garda Division 403 cars have been detained for being driven by an unaccompanied learner driver since January 2023, in Laois/Offaly that figure is 334.
In Meath/Westmeath there were 831 fixed charge notices issued for the same offence, meanwhile in Laois/Offaly the figure is 1,034.
Learner permit holders driving unaccompanied by a qualified person will receive a Fixed Charge Notice and a fine of €160 along with two penalty points.
