An appeal for information has been launched for two bronze axeheads discovered anonymously in Westmeath.
The artifacts date back to the Early Bronze Age and were sent to the National Museum of Ireland with no details other than they were found in Westmeath using a metal detector.
The NMI has launched the appeal as knowing the exact location of such objects could provide a greater understanding of ancient settlements and the prehistory of the area.
Assistant Keeper of Irish Antiques at the museum, Matt Seaver, says there is a legal obligation to report the discovery of archaeological finds:
