Calls For Restoration Of 4th Western Brigade At Custume Barracks

Westmeath county council is being urged to lend it's weight to the calls.

Westmeath County Council are being asked to add their weight to calls for the restoration of the 4th Western Brigade.

It was disbanded in 2012 during a re-shuffle of the Defence Forces but Fianna Fail say it's reintroduction could help ease retention issues in the army.

An independent commission is to review the pay and conditions of the Defence Forces, in order to make it a more attractive career choice.
