A new pool in the town has long been campaigned for.
The Taoiseach has heard the case for a new swimming pool in a midlands town.
Longford Westmeath TD Peter Burke informed Leo Varadkar the swimming facilities currently available in Mullingar have become "dilapadated" due to age.
Parents have been known to begin queueing at half 5 in the morning in order to get a slot for their children when the school year comes around.
The campaign for a new pool in the town has been on-going for a number of years.
