It's time for a "compassionate and balanced" debate on immigration.
That's the call from Longford Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy, who says a debate must be had on the issue in the Dáil, "in the very near future."
Over 140,000 people arrived into Ireland in the period leading up to April this year, according to a new review from the European Migration Network - that's up 31% on the same period last year.
