
A bill put forward by TD Ruth Coppinger aimed at banning the practice has started.
TDs and senators are hearing from those calling for the use of counselling notes in sexual assault and gender-based violence trials to be banned.
The Oireachtas Justice Committee has begun scrutinising a bill, tabled by TD Ruth Coppinger, to outlaw the practice.
Among those addressing the committee this evening are the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and the charity One in Four.
