Owners of an XL Bully have until the weekend to apply for a certificate of exemption before a ban comes into force.
From Saturday, February 1st, no XL Bully dog may be purchased or adopted in Ireland, with the ban also applying to exports.
Requirements for an exemption include the dog being microchipped, neutered and licenced.
