It follows a number of covid-19 infections among staff.
A deep clean has taken place at a Tesco site in Westmeath following a covid-19 outbreak.
A number of staff at their supermarket in Golden Island in Athlone have tested positive.
Testing has also taken place of potential close contacts.
Tesco Ireland says the safety of both customers and staff remain their number one priority and have fully engaged with HSE measures and advice on the matter.
Full statement from Tesco:
“The safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority. We can confirm that a number of our colleagues at Golden Island have tested positive for COVID-19.
We engaged immediately with the HSE and have followed all appropriate public health advice; whereby store colleagues received COVID-19 testing as a precautionary measure.
We have carried out a deep clean of the store as an additional protective measure. We provide face coverings for our colleagues, and continue to emphasise that physical distancing, respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene are the most important actions to protect everyone against the spread of COVID-19.
We will not be providing information about individual colleagues.”
