The State has spent almost €500,000 on security at a former IPAS centre in the Midlands in the last two years.
The Justice Minister is confirming €425,000 has been spent on the now closed Midlands Accommodation Centre in Athlone so far this year, with an additional €54,000 spent last year.
Responding to a request from Meath West TD and Aontú leader Peadar Toibin, Minister Jim O'Callaghan says there is a need for security at the site is due to criminal damage.
