Elderly Offaly Couple Fall Victim To "Sophisticated" Text Scam

They lost €1,000 due to a text that they believed was from their son.

An elderly Offaly couple lost €1,000 in a "sophisticated" text scam. 

They received a message in the middle night saying "ma I'm in trouble" and "I need money as I've lost my phone". 

The scammers requested they transfer €2,635 but they were unable to do so because of the limit on their bank account.
