The opening event is taking place this evening.
A new exhibition in Offaly will tell the story of the traditional Irish town.
'The Reason of Towns' is having its opening event this evening in John's Hall in Birr and will run until the 11th of August, after which it will embark on a national tour.
The exhibition will feature models, drawing and personal memorabilia, all examining the past, present and possible futures of the towns of Ireland.
Director of the Irish Architecture Foundation, who are curating the piece, Emmett Scanlon, says there will be something to interest and engage everybody:
