Brittany Ferries will end livestock transport services from Ireland to mainland Europe from September.
The Irish Cattle and Sheep Assosciation say they'll be serious consequences for farmers next spring if livestock capacity on Brittany Ferries is not restored.
It follows the formation of a new stakeholder group to campaign for its restoration after a meeting in Athlone chaired by Independent Ireland reps, MEP Ciaran Mullooly and TD Michael Fitzmaurice.
The group comprised of farmers from all sectors will also have another public meeting to brainstorm proposals for the Agriculture Minister.
