First Responder Training Needs To Stay Up To Date With New Tech

Westmeath Fire Service say new car technology can present a challenge during rescues.

New car technology can make it difficult for firefighters to aid people involved in collisions.

Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer for the Westmeath Fire Services, Pat Hunt, says there can be an increased risk of electricution to drivers and passengers in collisions, as a result of increased voltage and fires from car batteries.

A shift to the use of carbon fibre and plastic in modern vehicles also presents a challenge, according to Mr. Hunt.
