First Week Of May Saw One Month Worth Of Calls To Midlands Domestic Violence Service

Covid-19 is shining a light on the lack of refuges for victims.

The first week of May saw the equivalent of one full month of calls to Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service.

There was also a 30% increase in contacts to the centre in March and a 50% rise in April.

ODVSS Development Officer, Ann Clarke, says the covid-19 crisis is shining a light on the lack of accommodation victims of domestic abuse.

She says they fully support Offaly County Council's plan to explore a new housing strategy to support victims:
