The Irish Prison Service says its working with the HSE after a reported toxic drug drone drop off.
The Irish Prison Service says it's working closely with the HSE in response to a number of overdose presentations in custody at Midlands Prison yesterday.
It follows reports of several prisoners being hospitalised following a drone drop of toxic drugs.
A spokesperson for the Irish Prison Service, says extra vigilance is being taken within the prison and information for prisoners around the dangers of consuming contraband has commenced.
They add that access of contraband including drugs into prisons continues to be a high priority for the Irish Prison Service, and say that the IPS has committed to continuing to invest in new technologies and measures to support their efforts to keep contraband out of prisons including the increased use of random and intelligence led cell searches on a daily basis.
