Funeral Details For Five Teens Killed In Head-On Motorway Collision Expected Today

Three sisters and a seven year old boy remain in hospital in a serious condition.

Funeral details are expected to be announced later, for the five teenagers who died in the M9 collision on Sunday morning.

Teenagers Joe Carthy and Jack Kennedy from Athy, Alex McCarthy and Jeremy O'Brien from Carlow, and Limerick teen Kamil Pustkowski, were all killed when the car they were in was driven the wrong way up the motorway, and collided head on with another vehicle near between junctions three and four close to Moone.

The family in the second car, three sisters, Alma and Niamh Kinsella and Ellie Hendricken, and her seven year old nephew, remain in serious conditions in different hospitals this morning.

Meanwhile calls are growing for a clamp down on the 'glorification' of dangerous driving online.

It follows criticism of social media platforms by the Justice Minister, who said they need to 'step up to the mark' and remove videos of reckless behaviour, while the Taoiseach criticised irresponsible actions being carried out for 'social media likes'.

TikTok says its closely monitoring this type of content and is actively working to get harmful videos removed.
