Two motorcyclists have been hospitalised following the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision in the Midlands.
It happened on the R415 at Boley Little, Athy, Co. Kildare yesterday.
Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and two motorcycles shortly after 7.30pm.
One of the motorcyclists, a man in his 20s, was brought to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The second motorcyclist, a man also in his 20s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an exam, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, with anyone with dashcam footage travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
