Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
A man in his 50s has died after being involved in a crash in Offaly.
The collision involved a car and a pedestrian on the N62 at Killeenboy in Cloghan at around 11pm last night.
The pedestrian, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body was brought to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore with a post-mortem examination due to take place.
There were no other injuries reported.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed.
Local diversions are in place and motorists, particularly the drivers of heavy goods vehicles, are asked to travel via Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10pm to 11.30pm, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
